Brenda Davenport Taylor is a passionate, gifted songstress and songwriter who developed an appreciation of different music genres at a young age growing up in a talented, musical family.
Her mother was a church pianist and organist, her aunts were classically trained singers and pianists, and her father, the late great Wallace Davenport was a jazz musician serving as a bandleader and lead trumpet player for Ray Charles’ orchestra in the early ’60s.
Davenport also recorded and toured with Lionel Hampton, Lloyd Price, Count Basie, and performed with Quincy Jones, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis, Jr. before forming his band, The Wallace Davenport Dixieland Jazz Band. (Download Take No Thought by Brenda Davenport Taylor)
